Patient engagement in advanced cancer care: a 21st century myth or miracle?

Project summary

Patients with advanced cancer increasingly need to uptake a significant role in managing their healthcare. Many patients and their family caregivers are ill-prepared for this complex task. The researchers will examine who has more difficulties with self-management, why this is the case, and how they can best be supported.

This project will contribute to one of the greatest societal challenges: to deliver sustainable, patient-centered care in a context of ever increasing treatment options for ever increasing numbers of patients with advanced disease.
